Think Before You Hit With X-Raye

Is X-Raye Really So Easy?

This flash game X-Raye seems really easy at first. In fact, on the first level I was complaining to myself that the game moved way too slowly. Okay, so here is how it works. You are a hammer (well it is some kind of tool anyway). In the first level you have five pegs next to each other and with your hammer you have to smack them until they turn yellow. Once they have all turned yellow (there are just four on the first level) you move to the next level. Okay that is easy enough I thought. In fact, the music irritated me as it was so slow, almost the kind of music you get when you walk in to a church before a funeral. I was beginning to wonder if this game was on the same league as other free flash games I had played on this site.

X-Raye Gets Harder Very Fast

I need not have been so sure of myself! X-Raye is really hard!! On the next level I got nowhere for ages. But then I started reading the tips in the game. The first tip was very helpful (use the spacebar to detach yourself from the current peg). It was that which was holding me back. I (as in me who was controlling the hammer) would just slip all the way down. But once I worked that out, on the second level I managed to hit all 3 pegs pretty easily. But then the next level gets even harder as you have to hit some of the pegs a few times to warrant a result and you are not sure which ones need to be hit a few times? so it is all trial and error and learning new things on all levels. But that is the fun of the game. I still think the game is a little bit slow and in future I will choose to play it without that deathly awful music (which makes it seem even slower) but other than that it makes a nice change with its different, albeit slower, pace.

Run Faster In Marathon

Learn How to Play Marathon

In this game, not too surprisingly, you have to run as fast as you can. Well, it is a marathon after all. Running is not too difficult and you use the right and left mouse keys to move ahead. The more pressure you put on the keys, the faster you will run. With the Q key on the keyboard, you can toggle the quality. There are three games to choose from: 100 meter dash, 150 meter sprint, 1000 meter marathon.

Start With the 100 Meter Dash

I started with the 100 meter dash (which is basically the first and easiest level) as I had never been any good at running in school, so what made me think I would be any good at it now?! Well, obviously this is different as it is only virtual running! At first I had some trouble - it took me a while to move at all because I was moving only one arrow key (I tried right and then left) and nothing happened. I soon worked out that to get anywhere at all I had to move both right and left keys at once. Then I started really moving.

Enjoy the reality of Marathon

What I really liked about Marathon was the reality of the cool graphics. You know when you watch a Marathon on TV (or run one yourself, something I have never done but am now thinking of maybe training for one as this really got my adrenalin going), you see all the advert banners? Well, this is exactly the same on this game. There are all sorts of different companies advertising on banners as you run. Not that I could make out which companies were advertising as you go so fast! Perhaps that also has something to do with the game not being able to use different companies without contacting them, I am not sure.

Go Real Fast

Just the first time I played Marathon I was going at a speed of 84.40! You have a bar at the bottom of the screen which tells you your speed, the distance and the time it has taken you. It is definitely a fun game with tremendous graphics (probably because of the cool flash software used) and there is a lot going on while you are running so you have a lot to focus on at one time. Marathon is for sure a game to stimulate the senses.
